The Trios Medical Group offers patients access to our WebView Patient Portal to allow them
the option to securely view parts of their medical records. At some point, this secure portal may also allow the use
of secure messaging to communicate with our staff. When this is available, it is important to understand that while
secure messaging can be a valuable communications tool, it should not be used for emergency communication. It is also critical to be aware that the results contained within the WebView Patient Portal may still be pending review by your provider. We recommend that you take the opportunity to review all test results with your provider.
WebView Will Provide View Access to the Following:
- Historical and currently scheduled upcoming appointments
- Selected health information (allergies, vitals, medications, current problems, past medical history) * Results from labs and other testing you have had performed
- Patient documents, such as After Visit Summary reports, and as available, provider instructions
- Incoming secure messaging from your provider's practice
Due to legally binding privacy rules covering patients between the age of 12 and 18, WebView access will only be provided for patients younger than 12 and older than 17. Access already granted prior to a patient's 12th birthday will be disabled at that point. Record requests will still be accepted and processed on paper for these patients.
Read our HIPAA handout for information on how protected health information is handled in our clinics.
For any concerns, please contact the most recent clinic you visited.
Changes to these Policies and Procedures:
How Secure WebView Works:
WebView is a web-based patient portal that uses encryption and other security measures designed to keep unauthorized persons from reading information or attachments. This secured access is designed to ensure only authorized users can access the provided information and restricts access to be read only by someone who knows the right username and password to log in to the WebView site.
How to Participate in our WebView:
You will start your Internet browser and navigate to the specified secure website. You will then be able to log in using the username and password provided. Upon successful login, you will then be able to see any new or old secure messages, or view other parts of your electronic record. Because the connection channel between your computer and the website uses "secure sockets layer" (SSL) technology, you can read or view information on your computer, but it is still encrypted in transmission between the website and your computer.
Availability of the WebView:
Access to WebView is an optional service, and may be suspended or terminated at any time and for any reason.
How to Use WebView:
- Request access from Trios Medical Group. (To gain access, you must be at least eighteen
(18) years old or show proof of eligibility to access a child's account, for those 11 years old and younger)
Summary of Available Components:
Messaging: Incoming secure messaging from your provider's practice
Appointments: View historical and currently scheduled appointments. *You may have been told a different time for arrival
Chart: View information entered into core parts of your electronic health record (e.g. medication lists, allergies, and lab results). These are available for you to review as well as print for other physicians or to keep for your records.
Prescriptions: Contains your most recent reconciled medication list.
Lab: Contains copies of the results for selected labs/tests ordered by your provider.
Notes: Contains your medical histories and other reported information.
Protecting Your Private Health Information and Risks:
This method of communication and viewing information through the WebView is designed to prevent unauthorized
parties from being able to access while they are in transmission by using 1024 bit encryption. Other security
measures protect information maintained within the WebView site. The website for WebView has a trusted site certificate, which is viewable from your browser's task bar. (You can learn more about trusted sites by going to http://windows.microsoft.com and searching: "When to trust a website.")
We need you to make sure that we have your correct e-mail address and are informed if it ever changes. You also need to keep track of who has access to your WebView account, so that only you or someone you have authorized can see messages received or other information available in your WebView. You should protect your WebView log in information from anyone whom you do not want to access your WebView account and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your login information or if you believe that your login is no longer confidential.
Even with these security measures, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality, security or integrity of WebView information. To the fullest extent allowed by law, you agree not to hold Trios Health, its physician practices, its physicians, providers or any of its staff liable for network infractions beyond its control.
