Vel Wright, Treasurer
Vel is a long-time Tri-Cities
resident, and has served the community in many capacities through the years. Vel
was married to Philip Wright for 46 years; she has two grown children, Cindy
Wright Doyle and Kyle Wright, as well as four precious grandsons with whom she
spends most of her time when she's not volunteering. Vel was chosen as the 1995
Kennewick Woman of the Year.
Before retirement, Vel was the Vice
President of Banner Bank for 32 years. Post retirement, she serves her
community as the Assistant Director, Judge Chairperson, Interview Chair Person
and Lady Chaperone for the Miss Tri Cities Scholarship Program. Vel currently
serves on the board as Treasurer for the Trios Foundation. She is also a part
of the Women's Guild for the Tri Cities Cancer Center and Kennewick Kiwanis.
In a non-leadership capacity Vel
attends meetings, and assists with fundraising and events for the following Tri-Cities
organizations: Kennewick Man and Women of the Year Club, Soroptimists,
Cathedral of Joy Church, Mid-Columbia Badger, Republican Women and Rambling
Rovers. In the past she has been involved with the Lady Lions; Miss Rodeo
Washington; Safe Harbor Sales Outlet; Seasons Group; City of Kennewick; Police
Advisory Team and Block Grant Review for the City of Kennewick; First Night
Tri-Cities; Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership; Advisory Committee for
Columbia Basin College Resource Center; Volunteer Center; and, Kennewick School
District (helping with reading).
Vel has previously served on committees for Arts Commission for City of
Kennewick, Police Advisory Team, Veteran's Coalition, and Seasons Group.
Vel has received several awards for her leadership and hard work with the above
