Most hospital patients have some kind of health insurance plan. You may find that you need to make certain arrangements in order for your insurance carrier to pay your hospital bills. You will need to bring proof of Medicare or Medicaid coverage, or your health insurance identification cards and a description of your health insurance benefits with you to the hospital.
Trios can bill most insurance carriers electronically. However, if claim forms are required by your insurance carrier or HMO, they must be presented to the Admitting department prior to admission for scheduled procedures, or before discharge for emergency admissions.
Trios patient advisors help patients with any questions regarding bills, insurance coverage, Department of Social and Health Services applications, and more while still in the hospital. After discharge, patient account representatives will assist with your billing questions.
Your admission process will be made easier if you bring with you your health insurance identification card, Medicare card, and/or your coupons for Medicaid. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance carrier to obtain authorization for your admission, as well as verify whether a second opinion is required. Any prior authorization numbers should be presented to the Admitting Department before or during the admission process. Also, your health policy may require you to pay a certain amount yourself before benefits will apply. The amount of this deductible should be paid before you leave the hospital.
What Trios Handles
Trios will bill the insurance carrier for your services, provided the Admitting department has received complete billing information. Any balance not covered by the insurance carrier is due and payable in full by you. If you need to make other arrangements for paying your balance, contact a patient accounts representative at 509-586-5802.
If you are not covered by insurance and do not meet the requirements for public assistance, you are expected to pay a deposit to apply toward your bill before you leave the hospital. Several installment payment plans are available to assist you in meeting your financial obligation. For more information, call Trios Patient Accounts at 509-586-5748 or 509-586-5749.
