Trios Birth Center: Count On Us
March 14, 2022
By John Solheim, Trios Health CEO
When Trios Health moved most of its hospital operations to its Southridge campus in 2014, we maintained our facility at our original Kennewick General Hospital campus with our Trios Family Birth Center.
Our Family Birth Center is an incredible place where we have the privilege to welcome new life and be with families as they go through the birth process. I know that many in our community feel strong connections to this hospital building. In my time at Trios Health, I have heard many wonderful stories from the early days of KGH to now that are tied to this building and are part of Trios Health’s ongoing legacy.
This campus was the foundation for our success and growth over the years. I am grateful for the community members, who more than 70 years ago, campaigned to bring a hospital to Kennewick, and I hope they are proud of what we are achieving today, how far healthcare has come, and what we are now able to do for our community.
In the coming days, we are excited to open our new Trios Birth Center on our Southridge hospital campus. We will officially be open for deliveries at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29.
While we are sad to say good-bye to our original hospital campus, we are very much excited to be moving our birth center operations to the Trios Southridge Hospital campus. For the first time in nearly a decade, all of our hospital services will be under one roof. We truly believe this will enhance the hospital experience for our patients and community, make access to services more convenient, and make the environment of care for deliveries even safer than it already was.
Our new birth center is absolutely beautiful, and I can hardly wait to share it with the public in the coming days. It was constructed over our existing hospital space, and you would never know it was not there at the beginning! It takes up more than 20,000 square feet of space and includes two dedicated rooms for Caesarean Section deliveries, six Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms, and a 10-bed Critical Care Nursery to care for babies born after 32 weeks’ gestation who need a little extra care at the beginning of their lives. You will find the same great care you have had at the Trios Family Birth Center in our new birth center.
I am tremendously grateful to our parent organization, LifePoint Health, for their investment to make this new unit a reality. They invested nearly $22 million for our birth unit and continue to invest in our operations in a variety of ways. They care deeply about the Tri-Cities community and enhancing healthcare and access to healthcare.
Our promise to you, our community, through this change is that you can continue to count on us for your healthcare needs and to deliver joy as we welcome new life and celebrate with your family.
