Trios Health Names Shelley Hawkins as DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses Recipient
June 9, 2025

Trios Health is pleased to announce that Shelley Hawkins, a Registered Nurse, has been named as a recipient for The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses by Trios Health.
Shelly has been an RN at Trios Health since 2010 and works in the Birth Center.
“Shelley is well-deserving of this honor,” said Lori Katterhagen, Trios Chief Nursing Officer. “She is a great example to all of her co-workers and strives to treat her patients and their families with respect, dignity, and kindness.”.”
Shelley was nominated by a patent, who shared, “Care from Shelley started before she even saw me, with two phone calls no expectant mother wants to make. She went out of her way to care for me. When I pushed my call button during her shift, she was there within seconds asking what she could do to help me in our unfortunate second trimester miscarriage. She took her time with me and would even just comfort me when I needed it. I could go on forever on what an exceptional human she is. Shelley was a light on one of the worst days of my life. I hope to see her again. I’ll never forget her."
The DAISY Award® is an international program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and compassionate care. The family created The DAISY Award® to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.
