Trios Health is proud to announce that Rick Gullotto, RN, has been named a recipient of the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses. Rick, who has been serving in Trios Health’s Emergency Department since October 2023, was recognized for his exceptional clinical skill, compassionate care, and dedication to patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. 

“Rick’s commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care truly sets him apart,” said Kena Chase, Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Trios Health. “He not only brings clinical excellence to every shift but also creates meaningful connections with patients during some of their most difficult moments. We’re incredibly proud to recognize him with the DAISY Award®.”

Rick’s nomination stood out to the DAISY Award® committee not only because of his exemplary service, but also due to the volume and heartfelt nature of the nominations he received. Since Trios Health began presenting the DAISY Award®, Rick has been nominated four times by patients who wanted to recognize his empathy, professionalism, and comforting presence.

“I came into the ER experiencing a miscarriage. Rick was so kind and caring and able to get a blood draw and an IV from some tricky veins. His overall caring and kind personality helped with a very traumatic experience for me.”

“Rick was so kind. He always explained everything that was being done or administered. His bedside manner helped me stay at ease. No matter what I needed, he was quick to accommodate. He had genuine concern about my health and my care.”

Rick provides care to some of the most complex patients in our organization, and his commitment to delivering not only medical support but also emotional comfort continues to leave a lasting impact on those he treats.

The DAISY Award® is an international program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and compassionate care. The family created The DAISY Award® to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.
